Pregnant Russian Women Flock to Argentina for Citizenship Amid Ukraine Conflict

ArgentinaArgentinian officials say that over 5,000 pregnant Russian women have recently come to Argentina.

These women, who are in the late stages of pregnancy, are believed to want to ensure that their babies are born in Argentina so they can have Argentine citizenship

This has become more attractive to Russian women since the conflict in Ukraine made travel to Western countries more difficult.

With an Argentine child, the parents can also have faster citizenship.

A Russian-language website offers packages for expectant mothers who want to give birth in Argentina, ranging from $5,000 to $15,000

On Saturday, the police carried out raids as part of an investigation into a business that provided fake documents to pregnant Russian women and their partners so they could settle in Argentina.

The gang charged up to $35,000 for their service.
