Fans were stunned when Abigail was killed and wondered why Marci Miller left DAYS OF OUR LIVES.
Well, the soap’s head writer has explained why they chose to kill off the legacy character, and now Marci Miller shares her side of the story.

“I like to do other things,” she admitted to THOUSIF Inc. in a recent interview.
“I am not at a point in my life where I am ready to say, “Hey, I am going to play Abby DiMera for 20 years.’ It is hard for the show to accommodate and make space for it.”
“There were a couple of times last year where I was offered a couple of films.”
“Moreover, unfortunately, I had to turn them down after I had worked to get them because the show could not accommodate it.”
“The show was not doing anything wrong; you sign a contract, they buy your time, and that is the gig. They have got things they need to do, too.”
“We tried to meet in the middle, they tried to give me options, but my team and agents did not dig it. So it was hard.”
“Unfortunately, we could not find common ground that worked for both of us. We all wanted to.”
“I mean, I understand why they made their choice,”
“I do not love that they made the choice that they did. She is a legacy character. I expected them to recast.”
However, death is rarely a permanent condition in soaps, and especially not in Salem, where people come back from the dead constantly.
So there is still every possibility that Abigail could one day be resurrected, with Miller reprising the role.
“We will see,” the actress mused.
“It depends on what is going on in my life. I never say never, but I am not planning to come back next year.”
