On India’s 75th Independence Day on Sunday, 1,380 police officers were awarded Gallantry and Service Medals.
Among the personnel receiving Gallantry Awards, 256 are from J&K Police, 151 are from CRPF, 23 are from ITBP and 67 are from Odisha Police, 25 are from Maharashtra, and 20 are from Chhattisgarh and also, remaining from the other states, UTs and CAPFs.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jammu and Kashmir Police received one President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, and the Central Reserve Police Force received one.
The Ministry of Home Affairs also said that 398 soldiers had received medals for their bravery in the Jammu and Kashmir region, 155 personnel in areas afflicted by Left Wing Extremism, and 27 personnel for their bold action in the North-East region.
